The MAX3157EPI+ is an advanced lo-spike, lo-EMI / RFI, low power, +3.3V powered, RS-232 transceiver IC, designed to provide a full duplex data communication link in applications where the need for maximum power efficiency is critical. The device consists of a driver, a receiver, an ESD protection circuit and an on-chip power supply, optimized to minimize total power consumption, while providing superior ESD protection and low EMI. The MAX3157EPI+ is designed to minimize EMI/RFI emissions, minimize noise in the receiver when switching transients occur, reduce EMI susceptibility and minimize power consumption.
The MAX3157EPI+ is a high-performance transceiver featuring low-EMI outputs and receivers. The device is a single-supply transceiver and draws a maximum of 110 µA from the +3.3V supply, with a typical current consumption of less than 50 µA, making it ideal for low-power platforms and hand-held devices. The MAX3157EPI+ transceiver consumes up to 40% less power than conventional transceivers, while providing superior performance. The device can operate with data rates up to 200 kbps, providing superior EMI performance over conventional RS-232 circuits.
