The MAX3227CDB is a state-of-the-art, low-cost, full-duplex transceiver with features optimized for RS-232 communication. This small-footprint device includes 15 kVRS ESD protection (Human Body Model) and is optimized for Power over Ethernet (PoE) applications.

The transceiver consists of two RS-232 drivers and two RS-232 receivers, each in a DIP-8 package. It is deployed between the main processor and the coprocessor, and allows for simultaneous transmission and reception of data, enabling full duplex communication.

The MAX3227CDB transceiver offers the flexibility of up to two independent channels for differential RS-232 signaling. The Device is capable of driving and receiving data up to 60 Mbps over differential RS-232 at a distance of up to 5 ft (1.5 m). It can also be used to control multicolor LED displays, by providing data, clock and output enable signals.

The MAX3227CDB transceiver is designed to operate in temperatures ranging from -40°C to +125°C, making it suitable for a wide range of applications. The transceiver is also capable of supporting 2:1 switchable speed mode, allowing it to support data transmission at up to 500 kbps, or up to 30 Mbps in single-ended mode.
