The MAX3232CDB can drive a data rate up to 500KB/sec with a slew rate of 3V/µs, while the open collector drivers of standard RS-232 indicators generally can only drive a data rate of up to 250KB/sec with a maximum slew rate of 1V/µs. Additionally, the MAX3232CDB can provide better signal integrity, noise immunity, and power savings compared with the RS-232 indicators.
The MAX3232CDB\'s integrated design reduces the number of components and makes the circuit easier to assemble. Using a 15-pin DIP package, the MAX3232CDB can be fit into almost any application form factor. It also provides thermal, electrostatic discharge and EMI protection, simplifying the original circuit design and making it more reliable.
