The MAX3232EIPWG4 is a 3.0V to 5.5V low-power transceiver designed for RS-232 and V.28/V.24 communication interfaces. It consists of two drivers, two receivers and one transmitter. It is suitable for RS-232 and bipolar interfaces to V.28/V.24. It allows communication between 5.5V asynchronous logic and 3.0V or 5.0V communication equipments while providing RS-232level output by taking the CMOS or LVCMOS input. The MAX3232EIPWG4 operates with dual power supply, provides charge pump circuit for the negative voltagegenerator, low power consumption modes, and a shutdown pin that reduces the power consumption to less than 1µA. Its digital logic inputs provide true logic compatibility by using CMOS or LVCMOS compliant digital inputs. Its high immunity to ESD decreases the risk of damaging sensitive components. Therefore, the MAX3232EIPWG4 is ideal for portable applications such as bar code scanners, notebook computers, modems and printer interfaces.

Application Field

Working Principle

The MAX3232EIPWG4 drivers are designed with low supply current, low thresholds and low output impedance. When the input logic is at logic high, all the outputs of the drivers are pulled low, thus making the device go into a low power mode. This reduces the power consumption significantly. The receivers use the charge pump circuit to convert the conventional single power voltage between 5.5V to 3.0V into negative voltage.
