INTRODUCTIONThe MAX3232EIPWRQ1 is an advanced monolithic level-shifting integrated circuit from Maxim Integrated that converts low-voltage (<3.6V) asynchronous serial data to a standard RS-232 voltage level known as an interface driver, receiver, and transceiver. Due to its low operating voltage, it is well-suited for powering from a single 3V battery, allowing for design flexibility in a variety of battery powered applications. This IC is used to convert between low voltage (<3.6V) asynchronous serial data to a RS-232 logic level, from -10V to +10V, which is optimized for low-power consumption. The IC operates in a low power state when the driver pins (TX and RX) are inactive, and consumes very little power (<150µA) when active. The RX/TX pins can support data rates up to 200 Kbps and are designed to operate with a wide supply voltage range, from 3V to 5.5V. The IC also provides slew rate control on the output pins, allowing it to remain in a low power state even when the data transmission rate is fast.
