MAX3238IPW is an integrated low power multichannel RS-232 line driver/receiver with auto standby mode. It is designed to provide RS-232 compatibility while meeting low power EIA/CCITT/RS-232 standards requirements. The MAX3238IPW provides up to eight channels of RS-232 compatible interfaces with data rates up to 250 Kbps. This device consists of eight line drivers, eight line receivers, independent DTE/DCE functions, and an auto standby mode.The MAX3238IPW can be used for a wide range of applications such as Internet gateways, access routers, printers, scanners, modems, and data acquisition and control systems. This device supports a wide range of data rates from 0 to 250 Mbps, making it suitable for a variety of applications. The MAX3238IPW can be used for applications that use low power and board space such as point-of-sale terminals, point-of-sale peripherals, and other equipment that requires high port density and low power consumption.The MAX3238IPW integrates an RS-232 compatible driver/receiver with three output enable pins, each of which affects two of the eight channels. The enable signals allow the MAX3238IPW to automatically enter and exit standby mode. This feature reduces system power consumption when the RS-232 interface is not in use. The MAX3238IPW also performs continuous loopback receive testing and transmitter test-pattern checking.
