Working Principle

The MAX3244ECUI+ is a differential voltage transceiver with a single channel composed of two differential inputs and two differential outputs. The on-chip slew rate limitation feature helps to reduce EMI, while the enhanced ESD protection provides robust device operation. The single-ended output is pushed to the VCC/2 voltage level, while the differential outputs follow the difference between the two inputs. The MAX3244ECUI+ supports five different modes of operation, namely Low-Power Mode, High-Speed Mode, Low-Voltage Mode, Variable-Speed Mode and Mixed-Mode.

The low-power mode reduces the power consumption to less than 37μA at 5V, while the high-speed mode offers data rates up to 12 Mbps. The low-voltage mode is designed to reduce power consumption at lower supply voltages and offers data rates up to 3 Mbps. The variable-speed mode allows for variable data rate changes at speeds up to 1 Mbps. The mixed-mode supports both input/output data rates up to 6 Mbps, and is suitable for applications with constantly changing data rates.

The MAX3244ECUI+ also offers an Auto-Directional Sensing (ADS) feature, which allows the device to detect the direction of data communication and switch the output ports according to the direction of communications. This feature eliminates the need for manual switching, therefore simplifying the design and reducing cost.
