Introduction

The MAX3386EIDW is an advanced insulated gate bipole resistor (IGBT) driver designed to drive both N-Channel and P-Channel IGBTs in a standard configuration consisting of two inverting drivers. Working Principle

MAX3386EIDW operates at a single supply voltage between 5.5 V to 48 V and can handle supply voltages up to 60 V with short-term overvoltage protection enabled. It is designed to operate with an input clock frequency of up to 1 MHz and features continuous repetitive pulse control, which can control the on-time and off-time of each pulse output. MAX3386EIDW integrates internal no-load shutdown short-circuit protection. An external current limit enable signal can enable current limit to reduce the power dissipation of the output IGBTs.

The device incorporates a synchronous rectified drive output stage that provides efficient operation, fast switching, and superior reliability. It is also includes an adjustable dead-time control circuit to provide a precise control of turn-off and turn-on edges in order to prevent damage to the IGBTs due to shoot-through currents.

MAX3386EIDW is also equipped with an adjustable in-rush limit that prevents overcurrent from the load during startup, and a thermal shutdown feature which will shut down the device if the die temperature exceeds the safe operating limit.
