The operation of the device is centered on an ability to accurately and quicklyprovide a current to the laser diode module in order to generate the optical output power required by the specific application.
The MAX3643ETG+ is a dual-output PMIC - Laser Driver that controls the current flow to two separate laser diode modules. It features a wide input voltage range of 3V to 5.5V and allows for high-speed switching at frequencies up to 5MHz, with typical peak output current up to 10A. Its current control capability is precise and quick, allowing for operation with almost any type of laser diode module. Furthermore, the device offers protection against laser over-current by utilizing a unique dual fault detection circuit (FFD) to immediately shut down the laser diode module when an over-current event occurs.
The device consists of two independent laser diode drive channels, each with a dedicated regulator and control circuitry. The control circuit is used to set the desired current level, as well as to respond to faults and signal losses in order to safely shut down the laser.
