The programmability, flexibility, and low quiescent power of the IC makes it ideal for a variety of applications requiring a small footprint and a reliable PLL solution.
The MAX3674ECM+ applies a wide variety of PLL-based clock solutions to serve communications, computing, and consumer electronic fields. It is a highly flexible, programmable-capable, low-power clock solution that integrates a phase-locked loop (PLL) with VCO, a dual low-phase-noise crystal oscillator (XO), a VCO, and an integrated divide-by-2, divide-by-3, and divide-by-5/6 to generate a variety of output clocks.
The MAX3674ECM+\'s two low-phase-noise crystal oscillators (XOs) serve as the PLL\'s reference clock source. The XOs are stable and reliable, and the MAX3674ECM+ can operate up to two frequencies with fractional-N frequency synthesis technology on each one. As the reference source, each XO can be programmed for different reference frequency via external programming pins.
The MAX3674ECM+\'s PLL then uses the reference clock to synthesize up to two frequency outputs. The PLL regulates the output frequency by regulating the voltage applied to the VCO terminal, while the loop filter components established in the feedback loop of the PLL provide the stability of the output clock.
The VCO provides the output clock waveform and the output dividers realize a range of possible operating frequencies. The integrated divide-by-2, divide-by-3, and divide-by-5/6 can generate essential output clocks in the communications, consumer electronics, and computing fields.
