\'MAX3680EAI+TG05 is an interface serializer, deserializer family that facilitates the designs of low-cost, simple and low-power Serializer-Deserializer (SerDes) trans- ceivers. This family offers an excellent combination of GPIOs, LVDS, and clock data recovery (CDR) capabilities for high-speed interface applications. It is well-suited for a wide range of applications including multi-gigabit Ethernet, Fibre Channel, Serial RapidIO, XAUI, and FPD-Link.
The MAX3680EAI+TG05 family of serializers/deserializers are designed for high-speed data communication applications. The MAX3680EAI+TG05 supports both LVDS (Low Voltage Differential Signaling) and Clock Data Recovery (CDR) for data transmission over copper cables. Serializers provide a high-speed data source to convert the multiple digital inputs into a single differential data output. Deserializers take the single differential output of the serializers, and convert it back into the separate digital data inputs.
In addition to the serializing/deserializing capabilities, the MAX3680EAI+TG05 also includes embedded control logic and several dedicated test modes to facilitate system-level testing. The embedded control logic allows for easy configuration and monitoring of the device. This logic includes I2C compatible control logic and four dedicated test modes. The four test modes (pattern checker, response checker, LFSR, and fixed-pattern) provide the user with the capability to exercise and test the device for robustness.

It provides a high-speed LVDS interface to connect multiple system components and support various features such as cross-point switching, clock synchronization, phase-alignment, and timing control. The MAX3680EAI+TG05 family operates at up to 12Gb/s (10.3125Gbps) data rates and is available in several different packages. It is available as a 28-pin QFN (quad flat no-lead) with a 0.65mm body size or as an inverted QFN package with a 0.5mm body size. The family also has an 8-pin QFN package option which offers a low power solution with optimized signal integrity. The family is also available in a 14-pin TQFN package. All packages are RoHS compliant and feature the same logic behavior for easy migration and system flexibility.
