The MAX3735AETG is a high performance, fixed-frequency, laser driver specifically designed to meet the performance requirements of 10Gbps Ethernet and Fibre Channel applications. The IC provides current outputs with a peak spectral bandwidth of 2 GHz and a slew rate of 8V/ns, making it well-suited for electro-optic modulation in cutting edge designs. The MAX3735AETG laser driver has two independent channels that can each produce up to 65mA of current output into an external laser diode. Each channel has a dedicated output stage with separately programmable bias and modulation voltage outputs. The optional current limit feature allows for precise laser diode bias current regulation, ensuring safe and reliable operation of the laser diode in any application. The device also offers softstart and enable/disable control for both channels, allowing for easy integration into an FPGA or microcontroller.
The MAX3735AETG operates from a single 3.3V supply and features a 10-bit digital to analog converter (DAC) with adjustable current and modulation voltage output resolution. The DAC allows the device to be programmed with up to 256 discrete current and modulation levels, providing extra flexibility in the design process.
