The MAX7042ATJ+T RF receiver plays an important role in many applications today. The MAX7042ATJ+T is a low power, low noise and high gain RF receiver built based on a revolutionary direct-conversion receiver architecture. MAX7042ATJ+T offers up to 40% dynamic range improvement over traditional designs in the same frequency range.
The receiver consists of a direct-conversion receiver front-end, a time-interleaved band-pass filter and a down-sampling sigma-delta digital-to-analog converter. The receiver also includes a companion integrated-circuit, the MAX7042SEL+T, which contains all the analog circuitry needed for an RF receiver. The companion Max7042SEL+T also includes on-chip antennas for extended antenna distance and low profile (LPRF) radio technology.

The MAX7042ATJ+T works using a radio frequency (RF) signal to convert it to an analog signal, a process called demodulation. This is done by first receiving an incoming RF signal and then amplifying it and passing it through a low-pass filter, which has the effect of removing most of the harmonics in the signal. The resulting signal is then mixed with a local oscillator signal, producing two frequency bands: a low-frequency signal, which contains the base-band information, and a high-frequency signal, which is removed after being filtered. In the last step, the signal is converted into an analog signal via a sigma-delta digital-to-analog converter (DAC).
