Application field

This low-cost supervisor was specially designed to satisfy the requirements in high-volume space-constrained applications. It is suitable for battery-powered devices, computer peripheral applications, as well as any other application that requires reset or power-on reset (POR) functions. This product is available in tiny SOT-23 and SOP-8 packages.

Working principle

The MAX708RESA-T has a 2.2V to 5.5V operating voltage range, a temperature range of -40℃ to 85℃ and a reset timeout range of 2ms to 1.2s. The IC has an internal RC oscillator as an input to the timer, which sets the reset timeout period. The MAX708RESA-T has an active-low reset output pin to alert the system microprocessor about a power-on reset or power-loss reset condition. It also has an active-high enable pin to enable or disable the reset. To protect against a false reset due to noise, it has an internal glitch-eliminator circuit.

The MAX708RESA-T also offers active-low manual reset and valid power monitor (VPO) pins. The VPO compares the input voltage with the internal 2.2V VPO window voltage. Furthermore, the reset output will pulse low if the valid voltage range is exceeded. Finally, it has an active-high open-drain reset status output to indicate when the reset output is active.
