MAX712CSE+T is an advanced, high-speed dual input power system-on-chip (SoC) with integrated battery lithium-ion charger, optimized for low energy Bluetooth 5.0 IoT applications. It is specifically designed to provide high performance, low power consumption and high charging efficiency, while providing ultimate flexibility for system level solutions integrated with Bluetooth SoCs.
As a member of the MAX712CSE family of Power Management Integrated Circuits (PMICs), the MAX712CSE+T is capable of simultaneous fast charging and discharging of two Li-ion batteries, allowing for the fast charging of devices in applications such as Bluetooth headsets, fitness trackers, smart watches and other small devices. In addition to its battery charging capabilities, the MAX712CSE+T is extremely versatile, providing a rich set of features specifically designed for Bluetooth IoT applications, such as a low-power sleep mode, flexible input voltage ranges and adjustable output voltages.
The MAX712CSE+T is designed to be extremely efficient when used in battery-operated Bluetooth 5.0 IoT applications. It includes advanced power system elements such as an advanced low-power Buck DC/DC converter, a floating battery charger, an adjustable linear regulator and a power switch. The power system can easily be optimized to the specific application by adjusting its output voltage, current limit and hysteresis settings. The advanced power system includes a power-save mode and an ultra-low quiescent current mode to reduce power consumption, which enables long battery life in battery-powered applications.
The dual input battery charger is designed for applications which require multiple Li-ion or Li-po battery configurations, and is capable of simultaneous fast charging and discharging. The charger has adjustable voltage ranges, charging current and charge termination threshold options. It is also designed to protect the battery from overcharging, overheating and over-discharging. In addition, the MAX712CSE+T features a 5-bit input current limiter, which can be used to adjust the maximum current to the battery based on the voltage of the charging source.
The MAX712CSE+T has a fully-integrated, adjustable, linear voltage regulator which is optimized for low power applications, while providing high accuracy and low voltage ripple. The adjustable output voltage allows system designers to tailor the output of the regulator to their specific application’s needs. The linear regulator has integrated short circuit protection, over-temperature protection and adjustable over-voltage protection, which helps ensure safe operation of the system.
The MAX712CSE+T also provides a highly flexible input voltage range of 2.7V to 19V, with an adjustable switch voltage range of 2.7V to 5V. The adjustable switch has an adjustable current limit, current sense threshold and temperature monitor feature. The power switch can also be used to control an external load or connected device. The power switch can be controlled by the system as needed, and can also be enabled and disabled automatically when the system is entering and exiting sleep mode.
The MAX712CSE+T is a highly configurable and power efficient solution for Bluetooth 5.0 IoT applications.
