Working Principle of MAX795SESA+T

MAX795SESA+T has voltage supervisors with precision voltage thresholds and band-gap references. It monitors one or two power rails that are independently programmable with reset logging and window watchdog timer features included. The device features separate active-high and active-low reset outputs and power supply-monitors. The active-low reset “RESET#” signal resets microprocessors or DSPs, as well as other logic circuits, when the voltage falls below the factory-programmed reset-threshold voltage. It utilizes 4 analog comparators to monitor each of the two power supply lines. In the absence of the desired system supply voltage, the comparator’s outputs are SET and RESET# is asserted.

A window-comparator monitors two power-supply lines and keeps reset active if both of them fall below the power-supply select threshold, or if VDD falls above the upper power-supply-select threshold. If VDD falls below the lower power-supply-select threshold, the window-comparator’s output is set and a reset is forced. The open-drain RESET# output is asserted active-low while any of the analog comparator’s outputs is asserted. This makes it possible to monitor any microprocessor or digital logic circuits that require a reset pulse anytime VDD is not within the range of the factory-programmed operating and reset threshold. Moreover, MAX795SESA+T also has an extended temperature range feature to protect against thermal runaway and extreme temperature.
