Working principle

Schottky rectifiers employ Schottky diodes as their switching elements. A Schottky diode is formed when a metal-semiconductor junction is formed between a semiconductor material and a metal. This junction has a lower turn-on voltage than a PN junction.

This can cause a slow response times when switching high-voltage signals. However, this capacitance is low enough to provide a fast switching time when switching medium or low voltage signals.
