The MBR50030CT is an array type rectifier that is typically used in high voltage applications such as resettable fuses, UPS systems, battery chargers, power management ICs and motor drives.

The MBR50030CT employs 30V 30A Schottky Diodes that are connected in a “bridge” configuration consisting of three in series for a total of 300V. This bridge configuration is used to increase the current capability of the device and also provides some level of noise reduction. The device is rated for a repetition frequency up to 200kHz and a maximum operating temperature of 125°C.

The main feature of the MBR50030CT is the thermal runaway protection, which prevents the device from overheating when operating at a high current.The thermal runaway protection is enabled by adding two additional diodes in parallel with the bridge configuration. When the device begins to overheat, the additional diodes will increase the current path, which will reduce the voltage drop across the bridge, thus halting the thermal runaway. This allows the device to operate at higher current and temperature levels without any damage to the components.

The MBR50030CT is also designed with a voltage transient protection feature, which works by adding an additional capacitor across the rectifier. This capacitor helps to reduce any voltage transient present in the power supply when the load is suddenly shifted, thus preventing damage to the device. Additionally, the capacitors help to filter out any high frequency noise, which can cause a “ripple” in the power supply.
