The voltage across the two capacitors, Cx and Cy, will be the difference between the reference voltage and the input voltage. The comparison thus lessens the errors due to drifting of the input voltage and increases the accuracy of the conversion. The analog input is filtered out by a built-in low pass filter. Then, differential input is applied to the switched capacitor converter where the voltage is compared against a reference voltage. The results are then latched in a serial output. The range of the analog input voltage is dependent on the gain register setting.
