MIC2072BM Interface - Controllers
The MIC2072BM is a low-cost, ultra-low-power, CMOS interface controller. This device provides an integrated and low-cost alternative to multiple discrete components such as timers, debounce logic, edge detectors, comparators, and other logic-level interfaces such as open-collector, latch and tri-state devices. It is a versatile chip, used in many applications, such as communication and data acquisition, automotive, industrial and consumer.Application Field
The MIC2072BM interface controller is a low cost and ultra-low power solution for controlling many logic-level interfaces. If cost, power consumption and performance are critical, the MIC2072BM is the ideal solution. It is especially useful for applications in the automotive, industrial and consumer markets due to the chipset\'s exceptional performance levels.In automotive applications, the MIC2072BM interface controller is used to control power and signals to and from sensors, displays, audio and navigation systems, and many other automotive subsystems. It is also used in in-vehicle equipment such as remote starters, backup cameras and lane departure warnings systems.In industrial applications, the MIC2072BM interface controller is used in devices such as programmable logic controllers, transfer switches, process controllers, safety relays and other industrial control and automation systems. It is also used in medical imaging, printing, robotics and other industrial automation applications.In consumer applications, the MIC2072BM interface controller is used to control many devices, such as digital TVs, cable and satellite receivers, AV receivers, gaming systems and other electronic consumer devices.Working Principle
The MIC2072BM interface controller operates by sensing logic-level levels differentials. It contains four active low logic switches, two of which are high-current (HC) switches, one low-current (LC) switch, and a parity switch, which are all driven by three signals from the application system. The combination of the switches, their dynamic operating states and the signals result in a low-cost, low-power alternative to other discrete components.The HC switches control large loads (8A max) and are designed to create a connection between the two terminals of the MIC2072BM when a logic level high signal is present. The LC switch controls a small load (0.1 A max) and is designed to create a connection between the two terminals of the MIC2072BM when a logic level low signal is present. The parity switch is a pair of wide band-gap devices that allow the MIC2072BM to drive a doubly-biased transistor amplifier. A logic high signal is required to activate the amplifier and initiate differential sensing. The MIC2072BM controller includes internal latch circuits and can hold its outputs in either the "on" or "off" state. The outputs are released and reset by the receive signal from another device or from an accompanying signal from an external source. Overall, the design of the MIC2072BM integration eliminates the need for multiple discrete components and ensures an ultra-low power consumption for the most cost-effective solutions. Additionally, the MIC2072BM is designed for extremely robust system operation, with a temperature range of -40°C to 85°C and a voltage range of 2.7V to 5.5V.
