Working Principle

The MIC2183YQS is an off-line switching regulator, it works by generating a high-frequency, pulse width modulated signal that forces energy from the input voltage source (such as a battery or solar cell) to the output voltage.

The operation of the regulator includes two stages. The first is a start-up stage, during which it charges the output capacitors to their working voltage, and the second is regulation. During regulation, the MIC2183YQS adjusts the current of the power switch to provide the voltage output that is needed over a wide range of loads.
