The MIC2185YM is a versatile and high-performance DC DC switch mode controller from Micrel Inc. It is designed to deliver efficient regulation with a high degree of flexibility, as well as wide compatibility with many low power application requirements. The main features of the device include an adjustable switching frequency (from 600KHz to 1.32MHz), high peak current performance levels (up to 2A continuous and 5A peak), an adjustable operating voltage (from 1V to 16V) and an adjustable overcurrent protection limit. The MIC2185YM is well suited for a wide range of applications, such as, DC/DC converters, power inverters, power supplies, and power management ICs.

The MIC2185YM is suitable for a wide range of applications, such as, DC/DC converter or inverter designs requiring adjustable operating voltage, wide input voltage range, high frequency operation, low power consumption and the flexibility to support various voltage Ratings. It can be used in automotive, renewable energy, industrial and consumer applications for many different applications, including motor control, intelligent lighting, motor drives, communication and networking equipment, security, monitors, digital cameras and other similar devices. Working Principle
The MIC2185YM operates by first converting the input voltage into a PWM signal that can be utilized by the controller. The controller then monitors the internal voltage, current, and temperature feedback signals and produces an adjustable pulse-width-modulated (PWM) output signal in response. This PWM signal is used to control the switch device, which in turn controls the power supplied to the load. The controller also tracks the load current and switches between different operating modes (like pulse-by-pulse overcurrent and constant current modes) to optimize the power delivery and maximize efficiency.
