Aluminum electrolytic capacitors are the most common capacitors in modern electrical and electronic circuits. They are used in high-frequency filtering, timing circuits, decoupling applications, and more. The MLSEK0C series, in particular, provides a very cost-effective solution for power-off applications.The MLSEK0C series is an industry leader in aluminum electrolytic capacitors. With an operating voltage range of 2.5V to 250V, it offers reliable, low-inductance performance in a broad range of applications. In addition, its low profile facilitates mounting and its compact size enables efficient power management.The MLSEK0C series is constructed with aluminum-foil-sheathed electrodes. These electrodes are anodized and impregnated with a liquid electrolyte. The capacitance is determined by the area of the electrodes and the dielectric constant of the electrolyte. This construction provides excellent high-frequency stability, high current carrying capacity, and high ripple current capability. The MLSEK0C series offers a wide range of capacitance values; up to 3,000μF, in fact. They are available in a range of case sizes and values, enabling designers to optimize their system design. With 100,000-hour life expectancy and high temperature operation, MLSEK0C series capacitors can reliably support a number of different applications. These capacitors applications include: switching power supplies, DC/DC converters, motor control circuits, LED lighting systems, frequency converters, and more. Additionally, MLSEK0C series capacitors are also ideal for applications such as power supplies, UPS, HVAC units, mobile communication systems, and power amplifiers.In operation, aluminum electrolytic capacitors rely on the electrochemical process for the storing and releasing of electrical energy. This process involves two metal plates (anode and cathode) with a dielectric electrolyte solution between them. When electrical current is applied, the positive ions of the electrolyte solution will be attracted to the negative plate (cathode) and the negative ions will be attracted to the positive plate (anode). This creates a layer of charge on the plates and a corresponding electric field around the capacitor. When the applied current is removed, the electrons form a layer of charge on the plates and a field continues to exist. This field is the stored energy within the capacitor. As the current is restored, the energy stored in the capacitor can be released and used in the circuit.Aluminum electrolytic capacitors are economical, reliable, and highly efficient components.
