The MOC3021XSM is an optically coupled quad diac driver optoisolator. It consists of an infrared LED and a four-in-one diac chip. It is designed to provide electrical isolation between two different electrical circuits or systems and to provide a way of switching high power AC load control circuits in such a way that no high voltage appears on the controlling circuitry. The device operates with a standard five-volt power supply and can easily be used with microprocessors for the development of secure control systems.
The MOC3021XSM belongs to the Optoisolators - Triac, SCR Output family. It provides an output current pulse to turn on four power SCRs or Triacs. The output pulse provided by the MOC3021XSM is symmetrical, while the input side can be DC or AC coupled. The MOC3021XSM has low on-state voltage drop and minimum off-state leakage current. As well as being suitable for industrial control and process applications, it can also be used for remote sensing in measuring circuits.
The application field of the MOC3021XSM is wide and can be used in motor control applications, industrial power control systems, home appliances, and lighting control systems.
