The MOC3062TVM is a type of optoisolator in the triac, SCR output category, which serves an array of purposes and is widely used in many different electrical circuits. Its main function is to provide an isolated gate (trigger) voltage in order to control power delivery to the main circuit. It consists of an optically coupled MOC3062 and a MOC301x zero crossing detector. The optically coupled MOC3062 device consists of an infrared light-emitting diode (IRED), which is optically coupled to a phototriac over a gap separation. The MOC301x is a voltage regulator/zero crossing detector, which contains an SCR and is used to control DC or AC current.The MOC3062TVM provides a high degree of electrical isolation between the input and output for use in many different applications. It is very resistant to electrical interference, as the opto-isolator creates an electrical barrier that prevents unwanted voltage and current to pass through. This makes it great for use in industrial systems where high voltage spikes or inductive loads could create hazardous conditions.The working principle of the MOC3062TVM is based on the opto-isolation between the input and output. When an electrical signal is applied at the input side, the light emitting diode (LED) will produce photons, which, in turn, are detected by the phototriac on the output side.
