MOC3033M is an optoisolator which integrates a 6-pin DIP photocoupler with a 600V triac. It is commonly used for triggering and driving AC loads from lower voltage DC controls. As a 6-pin device, the MOC3033M has 6 terminals, input, output, common, and an LED.

Input: The input is the side of the MOC3033M which requires an external control signal. This typically comes from a DC power source, such as a microcontroller. This signal needs to have a current capability of at least 10mA, a voltage of up to 5V, and should be AC or DC.

Output: The output is the side of the MOC3033M which is used to drive the AC load. This terminal gets activated when the MOC3033M is triggered by the input side, allowing the AC load to be controlled. The LED is powered by the input side via a series resistor. When the input signal is detected, the LED emits light, which is picked up by the triac.
