Transient Voltage Suppressor (TVS) Diode is a specific type of diode which is designed to protect electronic circuits from the damaging effects of electrical transients or spikes. The avalanche effect used in the MP6KE43A is a “snapback” type, and offers enhanced protection due to the low targeted clamping voltage — 8.5V — of the diode. Because of this, the device can provide protection to equipment ranging from 6V to 16V, with ratings of 400W peak pulse power and 8.5V breakover voltage.

Its bidirectional design allows it to provide protection on both the positive and negative side, giving the user the control to design their own combination of circuit protection.
