As regards to its external appearance, the E3/54 is of a standard, through-hole design and, as typical of its type, is composed of an anode and a cathode; the former is noted by a light green line while the latter is marked by a grey line situated directly opposite from the anode. Additionally, it features a maximum junction temperature rating of 175℃ and is, in accordance with ESD standards, capable of withstanding electrostatic shock of up to 8Kv.

Now as for its usage: When installed and wired properly, the E3/54 allows for current to flow in a single direction. Additionally, due to its lower voltage drop, it is capable of drawing excess and or unneeded charge from the system it is applied to. Ideal applications for the E3/54 include power supplies, small appliances, lighting systems and instrumentation.
