The MPXM2053DT1 is designed to measure pressure in a wide range of application fields including fluid power systems, industrial process control, and automotive and avionics. The high-side element is a bulk semiconductor type with a sensing range of 0-8.0 V/inHg. The low-side element is a variable capacitor (VC) type with a sensing range of 0-0.4 V/inHg. These two elements together provide high accuracy, wide dynamic range capability and fast response time. The MPXM2053DT1 uses a Wheatstone bridge to convert the pressure into a voltage signal that is proportional to the pressure. The Wheatstone bridge is made up of four resistors: two bridge resistors (R1 and R2), a reference resistor (R3) and a gain resistor (R4). The bridge resistors R1 and R2 form a window around the reference resistor R3. When a pressure is applied to the bridge, the bridge resistors R1 and R2 bend, and the voltage at the bridge output increases. This increase in voltage is proportional to the pressure applied. The gain resistor R4 will affect the sensitivity of the mechanism. By adjusting the value of R4, the bridge output voltage can be varied to achieve desired pressure sensitivity range. The MPXM2053DT1 uses an ASIC (Application Specific Integrated Circuit) to convert the bridge output voltage into a digital signal, which is then used by the device to detect the pressure. The ASIC also enables the device to receive and process the necessary digital information for each of the pressure measurements, ensuring that all pressure measurements are reliable and accurate.
