MSC8144ADS application evaluation board is built around the 884 MHz ARM Cortex-A8 processor core and includes memory, interfaces, and image and video resources for a comprehensive demonstration of applications. It is a powerful solution for embedded systems in the fields of medical, industrial, set top box, and other types of equipment. The MSC8144ADS supports the open source C framework for the development of real-time, safety-critical, low-power, and high-reliability applications. Moreover, the ARM HSA architectures provide performance and scalability for accessing and managing peripheral and device registers.
The MSC8144ADS board is powered by an 884MHz, ARM Cortex-A8 based processor designed specifically for low-power, high-performance applications. It includes 512KB of internal SRAM with ECC; 1MB of on-chip SRAM; 64KB of boot ROM; and support for a wide range of internal and external memory controllers, making it a good choice for low-power yet high-performance designs. The MSC8144ADS also includes two microcontrollers for controlling external devices: a 32-bit ARM Cortex-M3-based MCU controller and an 8-bit, 8-bit microcontroller with best-in-class energy efficiency.
The MSC8144ADS integrates a variety of peripherals, including audio, image processing and video decoding, UART, SPI, I2C, and USB interfaces. The ARM Cortex-A8 includes a processor-level debug interface, which provides a powerful development platform for software development. As well, the integrated graphics accelerator supports accelerated hardware decode and render speed, making the MSC8144ADS an ideal solution for developing graphics-intensive applications.
The MSC8144ADS offers a wide range of application features, including programmable timers; DMA support; real-time clock; pulse width modulation; input capture/output compare channels; UART, SPI, I2C, USB, and CAN controllers; and Ethernet support. The board also supports Cortex-A8 multi-core programming interfaces and a range of advanced, system-level features, including low power modes for a wide range of peripherals. With the MSC8144ADS board, developers can easily create application programs that run on the ARM Cortex-A8 processor and interact with components that are connected to it.
The development of MSC8144ADS applications starts with downloading the device drivers and then the comprehensive development kits that include development boards, example code, and documentation, as well as tools to help developers debug and analyze systems. The MSC8144ADS supports development via the open source C compiler series toolchain and supports debugging with JTAG, ARM A-Linker, and commercial debuggers.
