The MXLLCE6.5AE3 TVS - Diode is a bidirectional transient voltage surge suppressor (TVSS) designed to protect a data communication line pair from voltage transients generated either externally or internally by the electronic equipment. Its small package outline and low operating voltage make the MXLLCE6.5AE3 ideal for communication systems interfacing.

Application Field

The MXLLCE6.5AE3 is designed to protect against surges in applications such as LAN lines, switchgear, power distribution networks, test equipment, industrial controllers, security systems and power line transients. It helps to protect against short circuit and overload current drifts, thus preventing current transients that could cause data loss and other system and component outages.

The MXLLCE6.5AE3 is suitable for environments susceptible to high levels of electromagnetic interference (EMI). It is available with auto or manual sensing, and can also be preconfigured with an external isolator*. This will enable it to monitor and suppress transients from outside sources in the most rugged of environments, ensuring that data communication lines are safe from disruption.

Working Principle

Once the transients are detected, the MXLLCE6.5AE3 instantly becomes active, clamping the voltage at 6.5V. It reduces the chance of breakdown and burns as it dissipates excess current while still allowing normal levels of voltage to pass. This characteristic allows communication systems to remain undisturbed and continue to operate while the surge is eliminated.

The MXLLCE6.5AE3 is built with an advanced, patented design that ensures high surge capability and low dynamic impedance. This helps reduce circuit instability when the transient surges arise.
