Application Field

NCV300LSN185T1G is a low operating supply supervision IC dedicated to microprocessor reset. The NCV300LSN185T1G includes many key features such as Power On Reset, Manual Reset Input, Watchdog Timer Reset, Brown Out Detect, Power Supervision and Integrated Reset Generator with voltage transition monitoring etc. The on-chip Reset generator generates an active-low reset pulse with a fixed timeout period for system reset. In addition, it has power fail comparator for monitoring the adjustable VCC threshold. The Watchdog Timer has a programmable timeout for system reset. And the Brown Out Detect monitors the VCC voltage for a selectable system reset.

Working Principle

The general purpose of using the NCV300LSN185T1G supervisor is its ability to safely reset microprocessors as part of a power-on-reset. This device accomplishes this by monitoring the supply voltage, which is referred to as the VCC supply. The high voltage side of the voltage sensor is connected to the VCC supply and the low voltage side is connected to GND. The center tap is connected to the threshold terminal.

The voltage sensor is configured to provide a reset signal when the voltage on the VCC supply drops below the programmed threshold level. If a power failure occurs, the reset signal is generated, and the microprocessor can be reset to its initial state and restarted. When the power supply is restored, the microprocessor is restarted and the system resumes operation.

The NCV300LSN185T1G also features an integrated reset generator, which is used to generate system reset signals. The reset generator monitors the VCC voltage and generates an active low reset signal when the voltage drops below the preset threshold.
