Gate drivers can improve the fault protection of the power supply, reduce losses and enable higher efficiency in the system.NCP5106BMNTWG is a multi-mode, high-speed gate driver from ON Semiconductor. Designed for low output capacitance, this device is suitable for a variety of applications including synchronous buck, boost, and buck-boost DC-DC converters, synchronous rectifiers, as well as three-phase motor drives. Its small size and high speed makes it an ideal choice for a large catalog of system needs.This device is able to source 500 mA and sink 3A of current respectively, along with a slew rate of up to 4.3V/ns. It operates from an input voltage range of 8 V to 36 V, delivering a 25 ns turn-on delay and a 30 ns turnaround time. It also includes an enable/disable feature which allows the user to control the operation of the device without having to disconnect it from the circuit.The NCP5106BMNTWG integrates a reference voltage, control loop bandwidth limiting and a 100 khz high voltage spike ripple filter. The integration of the reference voltage simplifies configuration and enables the device to start up over a wide range of supply voltages. Additionally, the control loop bandwidth limiting ensures a constant switching frequency, regardless of load or temperature variations. Finally, the integrated high voltage spike ripple filter suppresses voltage spikes from the internal MOSFETs.The NCP5106BMNTWG can also be used to sense current flow, allowing for the compensation of losses in the system and providing improved power efficiency. It has a wide range of applications, including portable and automotive systems, which require high frequency and low capacitance.The NCP5106BMNTWG is a versatile and efficient gate driver, which can be used in many applications across multiple industries.
