NCP5425SOEVB is a highly efficient, low power consumption, and miniaturized off-line SMPS evaluation board. It is used for various evaluation purposes, including power LED drivers, LED backlighting, auxiliary power sources for computers and other devices, and other non-linear SMPS applications. It offers two power levels, 4 W and 5 W, respectively, with maximum convection-cooled output power of 4 W and 5 W.

The NCP5425SOEVB employs a low-side NCP5425SO controller in a self-oscillating synchronous buck configuration. In general, the evaluation board provides the user with a simple and reliable means to evaluate the popular self-oscillating NCP5425SO. This board is designed to operate from a wide AC input voltage range (90 VAC to 265 VAC) and provide regulated output voltage at 3.3VDC and 5VDC. The board employs a single active device in the switching loop and is intended to reduce power dissipation and size requirements. The board also provides synchronization via external clock signal.

The NCP5425SOEVB features a high-performance NCP5425SO controller with integrated avalanche and short-circuit protections, thermal shutdown circuit and other advanced features. The NCP5425SO controller provides a fast and reliable synchronization circuit with a wide range of input clock frequencies. The controller provides precision programmable switching frequency and output voltage through external resistors.

The NCP5425SOEVB employs an efficient synchronous Buck topology for the DC/DC conversion. The design incorporates a tight energy loop with low power losses and a minimum of external components. The board uses a low-side NCP5425SO controller in the switching loop which reduces power dissipation and size requirements. It features a wide operating AC input voltage range from 90 VAC to 265 VAC.

The NCP5425SOEVB also provides current-mode control, which ensures excellent load and line regulation. The regulation voltage range is adjustable via an external resistor. The regulator also throws out a protection signal when an external fault is present. The board features an over-current protection and thermal shutdown circuitry.

The NCP5425SOEVB is an ideal evaluation board for the evaluation of the NCP5425SO controller in a wide range of DC/DC applications. The board offers the user with a reliable and simple means to evaluate the popular self-oscillating NCP5425SO, with wide AC input voltage range, current mode control and high efficiency.
