The NCP5604AAGEVB is a 4 channel LED driver Evaluation Board which can be used for evaluation of NCP5604A devices and as a reference design for customer application development. The board accommodates up to four independently controllable LED strings. The board provides full protection for both the LED driver and the LED string and is designed for use with a general lighting power supply. The power supply voltage can be adjusted from 95V to 265V to allow the customer to use the NCP5604AAGEVB in a variety of applications. The board also provides the option to add an additional power source, allowing for a total input voltage of up to 400V.
The NCP5604A provides the ability to control up to four LED strings using the on-board current sense resistor and double-pole double-throw (DPDT) wraparound switch. The wraparound switch allows for current sensing over a wide voltage range and eliminates the need to use a separate current sense resistor which can reduce costs and reduce space requirements. The wraparound switch also allows for multiple LED strings to be powered by the same current, eliminating the need to use multiple current sense resistors.
The NCP5604A LED driver is capable of multi-mode dimming control and offers a wide range of dimming options. The board features single-wire multicolor dimming control, pulse-width modulation dimming control, and combination of two-wire and single-wire dimming control. The combination of two-wire and single-wire dimming control enables the customer to combine dimming control of multiple LED strings in applications where the LED strings are powered by different power sources.
The NCP5604A also provides fault protection circuitry, as well as over voltage and under voltage protection. The over voltage protection circuitry prevents the device from being damaged in the event of an overvoltage condition. The under voltage protection circuitry prevents the device from being damaged in the event of an under voltage condition. The fault protection circuitry provides protection from thermal shutdown, excessive load current, and reversed diode polarity. These protection features ensure the reliability of the NCP5604A in a wide range of lighting applications.
