The NCP59301DS30R4G is a Linear Voltage Regulator (PMIC) which is specifically designed to provide a high current output in a very small package. It is ideal for applications where size and power dissipation are key constraints.The NCP59301DS30R4G is a monolithic 3V to 30V to 3V linear regulator that can provide up to 1.4A of continuous output current and up to 20A of peak output current. It offers a fixed 3.3V or adjustable output voltage. It is also capable of providing up to 40mV ripple noise for high noise rejection. It also comes with a low-dropout operation which is ideal for power cars, automotive, portable electronics and fairground applications.The NCP59301DS30R4G has an adjustable output current limit which ensures safe operation and prevents overcurrent. It is also capable of powering up rapidly, starting in as little as 10μs and can be synchronized with an external clock if needed. It has an integrated output current sensing circuit which protects components that may be connected to the output. It also has protections against overvoltage, undervoltage and short-circuits.The NCP59301DS30R4G has a high efficiency of up to 99%, helping to reduce power dissipation and saving energy. It also has a low input polarised capacitor that reduces input ripple voltage and noise. The device is rated up to +185°C junction temperature and has a power-AND architecture which allows it to operate without any heatsink.The internal circuitry of the NCP59301DS30R4G comprises a voltage reference, an error amplifier, a P-FET current switch with current limit, an over-temperature circuit, an external capacitor. The error amplifier controls the current switch, which in turn regulates the output voltage. The output voltage is compared to an internal reference voltage, and when the voltage difference exceeds the error voltage, the current switch is enabled. The current switch will then regulate the current through the output capacitor in order to maintain the desired output voltage.The output voltage is monitored via a feedback pin. If the output voltage exceeds the user selected output voltage, the error amplifier output is sent to a low low value, thereby disabling the current switch. When the error voltage is within acceptable limits, the error amplifier output is set to a high, and the current switch is enabled. Once enabled, the current switch will regulate the output current and maintain the desired output voltage.The NCP59301DS30R4G is an advanced PMIC, designed for numerous applications such as automotive, portable electronics, and fairground rides.
