Working Principle

The NCV3163PWR2G DC–DC switching regulator has a multiple switch synchronous PWM (pulse width modulation) control topology that is specifically designed for high voltage applications. The switching frequency of the regulator can be adjusted from 400kHz to 1MHz to help reduce EMI noise. The duty cycle is adjusted by the slope compensation circuitry through an internal resistor. Output voltage can be monitored through an optional voltage monitor pin.

The NCV3163PWR2G DC–DC switching regulator features internal thermal shutdown, output current limit and overvoltage protection. In addition, it also has a power save mode (PSM) which reduces operating current during light load conditions, as well as an under voltage lockout (UVLO) feature to protect the output from abnormal input voltages.

The switching regulator can be configured to operate in buck, boost, or buck-boost mode. It features low RDS(on) internal MOSFETs and low gate drive current to achieve high efficiency and low component count for high-efficiency power supply designs.
