NDH8304P is a four-channel source driver array integrated circuit (IC). It is designed to drive external power MOSFETs in full bridge DC brushed motor applications. The IC is designed to solve the following problems:1. High operating frequency2. Low power consumption3. High switching performance4. Possibility to operate at low voltageThe NDH8304P is an array of four source drivers, with two field effect transistors (FETs) in parallel in each source driver. It is manufactured using advanced CMOS technology. The voltage rating and power handling capability of the device is 8V. It has fast switching times, high frequency response, and low parasitic capacitance and gate resistances.The NDH8304P driver array can support up to 200mA of output current, and has a rise time of approximately 9ns. It has a frequency response of up to 10MHz, and a PWM frequency of up to 500kHz. The IC is designed for applications operating at up to 8V, and features a very low quiescent current and low power dissipation. It has low power supply noise, and high reliability due to the use of high quality CMOS process and design techniques.The NDH8304P operates on power supplied by a DC power source and is designed to drive four external N-channel MOSFETs. The four pieces of MOSFETs act as switches, which are activated by the driver, resulting in a closed loop. A closed loop allows the motor to run, while the switches regulates the speed and direction. The control part of the driver regulates the speed, direction and current. This can be done by varying the voltage applied to the gates of the four MOSFETs.The driver has two separate power supply voltages. The first voltage, VSS, is a negative voltage supplied by a power source and regulated to a maximum of -8V. The second voltage, VDD, is a positive voltage supplied by a separate power source and regulated to a maximum of 8V. The VSS and VDD voltages are used to drive the four MOSFETs in parallel. Furthermore, the current limiting, gate sharing and voltage sensing functions are incorporated into the driver array.The current limiting feature prevents large current overloads from damaging the device and offers an extra level of protection. The gate sharing feature allows the four MOSFETs to be driven in parallel, resulting in higher efficiency and lower losses.
