There are many applications for the NE555DX Programmable Timers and Oscillators in embedded systems, computer systems, and other microelectronic devices. This device has an integrated monolithic 8-bit-wide (1-byte) register which allows the user to program the timing parameters and make other settings. The NE555DX also comes with digital input and output pins, enabling a connection to a microcontroller or other devices.

The NE555DX is suited to use in multiple types of timing applications. It can be set up as astable oscillator that is used to generate a clock or timing signal, or it can be operated as a pulse width modulator to control the output of a motor or other type of device.
