The P1803AARP is a thyristor (TVS) device that is used for power applications and protects sensitive electronic components from overvoltage, overcurrent, and other electrical threats. It is designed to offer the highest level of circuit protection, while maintaining a low device conditioning and low insertion loss.The device is available in a SOT-223 package, which is suitable for a wide range of power handling capacities. The device has a very low on-state voltage drop of 0.06V and its ultra-low turn-on voltage of 1.25V ensures compatibility with all types of power converters.The device is primarily composed of three distinct cores, which are referenced as T1, T2, and T3. The first two cores are responsible for the overvoltage protection and the third core is the trigger logic. Together, these three cores provide up to four levels of protection.The first level of protection is overcurrent protection. This is achieved by increasing the MOSFET conduction resistance when the current is more than 126mA. The second level of protection is overvoltage protection. This is achieved by using the T1 and T2 cores to reduce the voltage by as much as 67V, depending on the device\'s configuration. The third level of protection is voltage monitoring. This is done by using the ultra-low turn-on voltage of the third core to monitor any overvoltage and initiate a controlled shut-down process when needed. The fourth level of protection is device conditioning. This is achieved by using the ultra-low turn-on voltage of the T3 core to provide a slow and controlled rise time for the thyristors.Apart from the overcurrent, overvoltage, voltage monitoring, and device conditioning, the device also offers two levels of surge protection. The first level of surge protection is offered by the natural low impedance of the thyristors. The second level of surge protection is provided by the MOSFETs. These are provided with a low-impedance path so that large surges of current can be protected against.All in all, the P1803AARP thyristor device has a wide range of features that make it ideal for application in power supply systems, voltage converters, UPS systems, power back-up systems, and other industrial applications.
