PI90LV14LEX Working Principle
PI90LV14LEX is a small-chip differential transmission line buffer, comprised of a built-in circuit and a high speed deep-level differential amplifier. The integrated circuit provides the amplification and the differential amplifier provides the transmission line characteristics, enabling the device to drive both un-terminated and AC-coupled transmission lines. The differential pairs of PI90LV14LEX are compatibly coupled, allowing the connection of both AC and DC outputs, thus enabling improved performance as well as compatibility with both +2.5V and +1.8V logic families.
The PI90LV14LEX is based on the timing model of a differential transmission line, and is optimized for very low-power dissipation, wide operating temperature range, and high speed of operation. The voltage swing of the output stage is limited by the control voltage and the output impedance of the device. This design allows for lower power dissipation, and consequently, increased reliability as well as reduced operating temperature range.
PI90LV14LEX also features improved logic thresholds, resulting in improved system performance. Low propagation delay helps minimize clock skew, jitter, and total system power dissipation. Furthermore, reduced peak-to-peak jitter and reduced electromagnetic interference (EMI) resulting from the device\'s use of differentially coupled lines are other advantages associated with it.
To ensure reliable operation over an extended temperature range, PI90LV14LEX is designed to meet the IEC/EN 60335 thermal management requirements. The device is certified to operate between -40°C and 85°C and is suitable for multiple timing and clocking applications in commercial, industrial, and medical devices.
