Film capacitors, also known as plastic film capacitors, are constructed from a dielectric film material between the two electrodes. The dielectric film material used in these capacitors can either be a polyethylene, polypropylene or polystyrene film. Depending on the desired application, the film capacitors can be designed with properties suited for high voltage, temperature, frequency and other operating conditions. The materials used in film capacitors can be chosen to provide desired characteristics such as and high dielectric strength, high self-healing, excellent low leakage, low ESR (equivalent series resistance) and high capacitance. The dielectric material is usually layered around a cylindrical cylinder-shaped body which contains one or more windings of electrolytic paper or a mylar capacitor foil.
The PVC2015 is a type of film capacitor, specifically Poly Vinyl Chloride (PVC) film capacitors, which are dielectric capacitors with an insulated thin film made of PVC, and a high dielectric strength. PVC capacitors provide a wide range of electrical strategies for high-reliability communications circuits. This type of capacitor has high insulation, low loss, low noise and good self-healing properties. They are also temperature-stable and are available in a variety of sizes ranging from small-sized SMDs to traditional radial-leaded versions.
The applications of the PVC2015 film capacitors mainly lie in high-reliability communications circuits, such as satellite broadcasting, military communication systems, broadcast radio systems, televisions, telephones, computers, medical equipment, test equipment and more. They feature excellent heat resistance, high reliability, low ESR, long operational life, robust vibration and shock protection, and much more. The capacitor is also designed to provide a low noise operation to help reduce interference and improve signal clarity.
The working principle behind film capacitors is based on the behavior of the dielectric material which is used to form an insulation layer. The thickness of this insulating layer is an important factor in the design of the device as it defines the resistance of the dielectric material. A higher resistance will result in a higher breakdown voltage of the device, while a lower resistance will result in a lower breakdown voltage. The free electrons in the dielectric material will be attracted towards and held at the electrodes, resulting in the formation of an electrical field. This electrical field will then be used to generate a voltage difference between the two electrodes.
In the PVC2015 capacitors, the PVC film acts as the dielectric material in order to provide the desired electrical characteristics. The working principle is based on the behavior of this dielectric layer which acts as an insulating layer between the two electrodes. When a voltage difference is applied across the electrodes, electrons which are present in the dielectric layer are attracted towards the electrodes. This creates an electrical field which can be used to store energy and generate a voltage difference.
The usage of the PVC2015 capacitor can be beneficial for the applications in which the performance of the device is essential. The dielectric properties of this capacitor can help reduce noise levels, improve signal clarity, and allow for higher voltage outputs. Additionally, the device’s ability to self-heal can provide reliable operation in more hostile environments or during long periods of operation.
