Rectifier Schottky Barrier Metal-Semiconductor Field Effect (RSFMRUG) is a semiconductor device that is used as a rectifier, a high speed switching device, and an isolator. It is a four-terminal device with a trench gate electrode that is A metal-semiconductor junction device. It is made up of a metal-semiconductor diode which is formed by the junction of P-type and N-type semiconductors. Its four terminals are the gate electrode, the source electrode, the source electrode, and the drain electrode. The most common application for an RSFMRUG is as a switching device for high-speed applications such as pulse switching, DC-DC converters, and phase-shifted buck regulators.

The working principle of an RSFMRUG is that of a Schottky diode. When a voltage is applied to the gate electrode, minor charge carriers are injected, which cause the depletion layer to expand and decrease in thickness. This increases the barrier potential of the junction, thereby increasing the forward current. When the voltage is decreased, the depletion layer decreases in size, decreasing the forward current.
