SA16A B0G is an unidirectional TVS (Transient Voltage Suppressor, ) diode with low leakage current and extremely tight clamping voltage ratings. It is specifically designed to protect sensitive equipment such as telecommunication, computers, peripherals, industrial instrumentation, etc. from dangerous transients and surges.
SA16A B0G is made up of a combination of PN junction, avalanche breakdown and internal field structures. It consists of two versions, the zener diode version and the general non-zener version. The zener version works on the basis of operation by avalanche breakdown of PN junction, while the non-zener version employs a series of internal field control structures for protection.
The SA16A B0G is capable of clamping transients in excess of ±15kV with response times less than 1μs, making it ideal for use in IEC grade systems. It can also withstand high surge currents up to 1.6kA and is capable of withstanding at least 3 times the surge current average (IEC Level 7). The rated clamping voltage of the SA16A B0G ranges from 4.6V to 10.6V.
The application field of the SA16A B0GTVS diode includes voltage and current suppression, signal protection, power level and frequency protection, electromagnetic and radio frequency interference protection, co-location immunity, avionics, EMI and power line noise suppression.
The SA16A B0G diode is specifically designed to protect sensitive electronic systems from dangerous transients and surge events. It is able to offer superior ESD and EFT protection, making it suitable for use in a range of critical AC and DC environments. It is also able to protect against long-term energy events such as those caused by lightning strike and power disruptions.
The working principle of the SA16A B0G diode is as follows. During operation, the device is exposed to a high-voltage transient event. As the voltage increases, the internal diode resistance decreases, allowing the current to flow through the device. As the current increases, the dielectric field strength increases, creating an avalanche break here the voltage is restrained. The current thus clamps the voltage along with reducing the remaining voltage to a safe level.
The SA16A B0G diode is an effective protection device with high power capability and low leakage current. It is suitable for a wide range of applications, including data communication and networking, consumer electronics, industrial equipment and automotive applications. With its excellent clamping voltage ratings and response times, it provides an efficient protection for sensitive electronic systems against damaging transients and surge events.
