Transient voltage suppressors (TVSs) are voltage-clamping devices designed to protect sensitive electronic components from overvoltage, inductive switching, and electrostatic discharge (ESD) events. They provide protection from voltage spikes that exceed the normal operating range of a device, such as those caused by load dumps, incoming lightning, or electrostatic discharge.
