Transient Voltage Suppressor diodes, known as TVS for short, are designed to protect electronic devices from dangerous voltage spikes. The SA40A-E3/73 is an ultra-low capacitance, high voltage, multilayer-varistor device designed to protect sensitive electronics from damaging over-voltage transients and electromagnetic interference (EMI). The two-terminal SA40A-E3/73 can protect circuits up to 65V and is rated for a surge energy of 8.0kA. It offers a low clamp voltage of 33V and can provide up to 1,000W of ESD protection.

The device features a frequency response of up to 500kHz, allowing for excellent noise suppression. Additionally, it offers a wide temperature range of -55℃ to +155℃ making it suitable for automotive applications. The diode is also RoHS compliant and comes in a convenient SOT-23-5L package.
