Application Field
SA5.0A-E3/73 is a surface mount Thyristor Surge Protection device (TSPD). It is designed to provide operating voltages up to 5.0V, and can be used to protect high-speed data lines such as USB, LAN, DVI, and HDMI ports in computers and smartphones and audio/video equipment. These devices are also suitable for RF systems, industrial controllers, automotive systems, consumer electronics, and power supplies.
Working Principle
SA5.0A-E3/73 is designed to protect circuits from high transient voltages and over-voltages that may occur due to lightning strikes, ESD pulses, RF spikes, or power cross. Its working principle is based on a two step feedback control loop, wherein a voltage-controlled switch is used to determine the response of the protection circuit to an over-voltage event. When a voltage threshold is crossed, the switch turns on, allowing current to flow into the ground. The current is limited to a safe level both by the current rating of the device, and the device’s thermal characteristics. Once the voltage drops below the threshold, the switch turns off, returning the system to its normal operating state.
SA5.0A-E3/73 TVS - Diodes are designed to provide protection from transient over-voltage events while maintaining a low normal operating voltage. The device is small, efficient, and easy to install.
