SA5.0CAHR0Gis a high temperature polymeric Positive Temperature Coefficient (PTC) Resettable Fuse based on a strong thermoresistive polymer. The SA5.0CAHR0G is designed to protect electronic equipment from the damaging effects of excessive heat and recurring surges as well as from the damaging effects of bad power supplies and household electrical hazards. SA5.0CAHR0G is a part of the TVS-Diodes family which is a special family of semiconductor device designed to protect sensitive electronic components from damaging electrical characteristics, such as electrostatic discharge, voltage spikes, and others.The SA5.0CAHR0G is also feature packed with an integrated surge clamp, arc suppression, and auto-reclosing. This makes it an ideal device for any electronic system, such as computer networks, industrial control systems, lighting control circuits, and more. The SA5.0CAHR0G can handle up to 6A @ 600V without degrading performance. With its superior arc suppression and overload protection capabilities, it can also protect sensitive components like ICs from high voltage transients.The main purpose of the SA5.0CAHR0G is to protect the electronic equipment of a system from high-temperature occurrences, such as in the event of an overload or electric surge. The SA5.0CAHR0G is designed to reset automatically at a temperature threshold and remain resilient to electrical surges. The working principle is simple: it releases an electrical current only when the temperature exceeds a certain point. Further, the electrical current will be limited by the built-in over-temperature protection circuit.The SA5.0CAHR0G is made up of four main components: high-performance PTC element, two conductive electrodes, an insulation sleeve, and a housing. The PTC element is made of a thermoresistive polymer material, while the insulation sleeve is made of a special elastomer that isolates the PTC element and eliminates cold contact. The electrodes are located at the ends of the PTC element and consist of metal or alloy. The housing of the SA5.0CAHR0G is made out of insulating materials, such as ceramic or plastic, and protects the PTC element from adverse environmental conditions, such as moisture or dust.In operation, the SA5.0CAHR0G senses a rise in temperature, and when the temperature exceeds a specific threshold, the current is cut-off and the SA5.0CAHR0G will reset itself. The temperature threshold is determined by the properties of the conductive element and is typically between 85-115 degrees Celsius. When the temperature rises above this threshold, the SA5.0CAHR0G will open the circuit and it remains open even if the temperature goes down to the normal operation level. Once the temperature is stabilized, the PTC element will reset itself and the circuit can resume operation.The SA5.0CAHR0G has several advantages, such as superior over-voltage protection, over-load protection, and arc suppression.
