TVS (transient voltage suppressor) diodes are highly reliable voltage suppressing devices which provide protection from electrostatic discharge (ESD) and the transients generated by power switching. The SA51AHR0G is a TVS diode designed for Automotive AECD/AEGD power switching applications which require both ESD and voltage surge protection.

The SA51AHR0G is a specific type of TVS diode, known as an avalanche diode. Avalanche diodes behave differently than a standard semiconductor diode in that, under certain conditions, it will allow current to flow in both directions (forward and reverse).
