The SA56004DD,112 uses a thermoelectric (TE) or thermistor (thermally sensitive resistor) sensing element. A TEG is composed of two dissimilar metals (typically copper-magnesium alloys, commonly known as thermocouples) that are connected in series and in contact with the environment whose temperature is to be measured. When the junction of the two metals is exposed to varying temperature, a continuous potential difference (voltage) is produced between the two metals.
